“Funeral of the Late J. Spencer Thompson, M.P.

            This funeral took place under the auspices of Vancouver & Quadra Lodge No 2, A.F. and A.M. – Bro. Robert Beaven, M.P.P. (Minister of Finance) Worshipful Master. The remains left the temple at 3 p.m., services at the grave being performed by the Rev. Bro. Smith, Chaplain of the Lodge. The procession moved in the following order: Sojourning Brethren; Worshipful Master; officers and brethren of Victoria Colombia Lodge No 1, Bro. John Teague, W. M.; officers and members of Vancouver & Quadra Lodge No 2, Bro. Robert Beaven, W.M.

                                       THE HEARSE

            The pallbearers: Bros. Judge Robertson, E.C. Neufelder, C. Thorne, H.F. Heistermann, Mayor Turner, R.P. Rithet, Jno. B. Lovell, N.F. Foster.

            Mourners – Eli Harrison, Esq. senr., M.W. Grand Master; E. Crow Baker, Esq., V.W. Grand Secretary; Eli Harrison, Esq., jr., R.W. Grand Junior Warden.

            Carriages containing Hon. J.W. Trutch, C.M.G., Dominion Government Agent, and H.S. Roebuck, Esq., Secretary; Hon. G.A. Walkem, Premier and Attorney General, and George Ferguson, Esq., M.P.P.; Dr. J.W. Powell, Indian Commissioner, and F.J. Barnard, Esq., M.P.; J.H. Todd, Esq., and a number of other influential citizens. His Honor the Lieut.-Governor and Capt. Tatlow, private secretary, joined the procession to Ross Bay Cemetery where the remains were interred.”
